The widow rockfish are dusky-brown over most of the body. Its fin membranes and tail are black-colored, and mouth is relatively smaller than the other rockfish. They are active in swimming above a rocky reef and go with the schools. Raw flesh is translucent pink and turns white when cooked.
The flavor is delicate and nutty flavor. It has a soft brown skin, lean with a medium-fine texture.
